North Star | 27 x 19 inches | Pastel and Charcoal on Pastelmat

My attempt to honour a very special species for many people, including myself - the Black-backed Woodpecker (Picoides arcticus). I picked this setting for this intentionally, even though it would be extremely rare to observe in person, rare but not impossible : ) I like playing with the context because it's fun, which is the whole point of doing this work, right? This one I actually have a framing recommendation for, you're probably thinking what i'm thinking ; )
